After classes at the Training Center in Mianyang this Monday and Tuesday, Michelle and I traveled with three Mianyang pastors, Cao, Ma, and Wang, to Anxian and Beichuan cities. Both of these cities suffered enormous loss of life and property during the 2008 earthquake. Beichuan city was completely destroyed and is still blocked from entry by the military. The entire city has been relocated and built on a site about 20 kilometers from its original location. Prior to the earthquake, Beichuan city did not have a Christian Church. As part of the city relocation, the neighboring county of Anxian renamed its Christian Church, to be the new Beichuan Christian Church! As a bonus, the government has encouraged and donated partial funds for the building of a new church facility to be called the "New" Anxian Christian Church. This week we visited the actual plot of land that the new church will be located on. It is currently beautiful farm land full of vegetables of all kinds. The area is in transition and will soon be a vibrant multi-family residential development. The new church building will be situated in the very heart of this densely populated region of Anxian County. We are hopeful that CBF churches and individuals may play a small part in supporting this new church start. Pastor Ma, our long time friend and colleague will be the senior pastor of this start.

I will be praying for you tonight as you are meeting with Lee. I pray that there will be a spirit of openess, trust and friendship that will allow God to touch Lee. Please tell the folk in Mianyang that we are praying for them, too! I can see the smiling faces and think of the courageous men and women who, at great sacrifice, are working so hard to become good leaders for Christ's church in China. Thank you, Bill and Michelle for all that you are doing as honored and respected partners.

This coming Monday and Tuesday, Nov 15-16, I will be in Mianyang teaching the last two days of OT survey lectures and discussions at the Lay Training Center. Please pray for good class time and participation of the 30 men and women training to lead their congregations.

Please pray for my Chinese friend Lee, a stated skeptic of Christianity. We have agreed to meet every other Saturday morning for coffee, Bible study, and discussion. Pray for God's Spirit to touch his life and soften his heart. Thank you for your partnership of prayer.
